Mullets are found in shallow coastal waters, near coral reefs, rocky bottoms and posidonia meadows. They prefer warm and brackish waters, although they can also be found in deeper areas. They are a solitary and territorial fish, and often hide in crevices and caves to protect themselves from predators and to rest.

How to Eat

The flesh must be firm and the abdomen must be intact. Their flesh is particularly thin and fragile, so the ideal is to consume red mullet as quickly as possible.
