Picuda

Sphyraena viridensis

The Sphyraena viridensis, commonly known as Picuda, Bicuda or Barracuda, is a predatory fish species. It is a medium-sized fish, which can reach up to 1 meter in length and weigh about 6 kilos.

This fish inhabits warm waters of the eastern Atlantic, Mediterranean and Black Sea, and is commonly found off the coasts of Africa, Europe and southern Asia. It prefers to live near the coast in shallow waters, although it can also be found in deeper areas up to 200 meters.

As for its appearance, it has an elongated and narrow body, with a large and sharp head and a mouth full of sharp teeth. Its coloration is silvery green on the upper part of the body, while its belly is white. It also has dark spots along the body.
